Introduction
Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts is one of the UK’s leading drama schools with a worldwide reputation for excellence in education and training.
Founded in 1945, Mountview offers extensive and stimulating training for those interested in pursuing a Performance, Directing or Technical Theatre career. The courses are structured to give students a thorough grounding in all aspects of their chosen field. Students are trained to a high level to develop a range of skills which will enable them to bring thought, energy and commitment to their professional work, giving them the tools to succeed in a competitive industry.
Students work, not only with Mountview’s experienced teaching staff but also with current theatre practitioners - directors, set designers, lighting and sound designers, choreographers, musical directors, actors and stage management. As well as keeping students in touch with current professional practice, this provides valuable contacts on completion of the course. Additionally, students explore and develop the necessary skills to promote themselves as professional actors and practitioners.
Mountview also has a strong commitment to training in television with its specialised requirements and performance students are given opportunities to work with the Academy’s professional television staff. Acting students also study radio technique. After completing their chosen course, many students have gone on to enjoy highly successful careers in theatre and related media.
Mountview is committed to equal opportunities and widening participation. It works to create significant opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to develop and enrich their life through the practice of theatre and related arts.
Mountview is situated in Wood Green, in the Borough of Haringey, North London, home of the famous Alexandra Palace. Mountview is well placed for easy access to West End theatres, fringe theatres and London nightlife.
