Undergraduate Admissions

All courses:

For admission to BA (Hons) courses Mountview normally requires the following standard qualifications:

  • Five GCE/GCSE passes, including two at A-Level
  • Four GCE/GCSE passes including three at A-Level
  • Four passes in the SCE Higher Grade examinations
  • BTEC National or Higher National Certificate or Diploma with merit grades in at least three second or third year modules
  • Other qualifications recognised by Mountview / University of East Anglia (UEA)

If applicants do not meet these requirements they should not be deterred from applying. Mountview recognises that talent/skill cannot always be measured by conventional academic achievement and welcomes applications from people without standard entry qualifications.

Postgraduate Admissions

Performance:

While audition/interview is the primary means of determining the applicant's suitability for entry, Mountview will normally require one of the following additional qualifications:

  • A first or second class degree in a related subject
  • Satisfactory evidence of the capacity and attainments required to enable the pursuit of the course. This will include the successful completion of an 'access assignment' – a piece of reflective/analytical writing (this is usually for those candidates who do not have a first or second class degree but who wish to be considered for the MA option).

Theatre Arts Production:

Entry requirement is typically a degree, or equivalent qualification along with relevant practical experience.

Consideration is given to those with no formal qualifications but with significant practical experience in stage management or technical theatre.

Entry to the course is in September or in January. The September intake runs until August of the following year; the January intake completes the course in December of the same year.

Theatre Directing:

While audition/interview is the primary means of determining the applicant's suitability for entry, Mountview will normally require one of the following additional qualifications:

  • A degree in Drama or Theatre Studies (minimum classification 2:2)
  • A degree in another subject, plus drama experience (minimum classification 2:2)
  • Another qualification recognised by the University of East Anglia (UEA). Students who have considerable experience in professional or non- professional theatre but who do not have any of the above qualifications may be eligible for entry. These candidates may be required to submit an access assignment in order to be considered for the MA.

Musical Direction:

Candidates must have a very high standard of piano playing.

A degree is desirable (though not essential and it doesn't have to be in music). Previous experience is taken into account along with aptitude and demonstrated commitment.
