Level One

Level One Modules are designed to

  • establish securely a students sense of themselves as the source of their acting
  • establish understanding of acquirable performance skills
  • assist development as a member of a collaborative community in which collective and individual technical and creative progress are carefully nurtured
  • develop awareness of personal physical resources as the instrument of communication and to begin to develop physical skills
  • develop the ability for informed critical assessment of personal work and the work of fellow students
  • develop background knowledge and understanding of theatre and drama.

Level Two

Level Two Modules are designed to

  • assist to explore personal expressiveness with regard to the stylistic demands in performance of a variety of dramatic material
  • continue to develop physical skills in relation to a variety of challenging dramatic conventions, registers and styles
  • develop research skills and the application of these skills to acting
  • facilitate creative potential through more complex devising assignments
  • continue to develop critical powers in relation to a range of play texts and performances

Level Three

Level Three of the course focuses on public performances, directed by experienced Theatre Directors with support from professional Musical Directors and Choreographers. Productions are presented in various venues in the London area. In the final term students present a West End Showcase attended by Agents, Casting Directors and prominent members of the industry. Level Three Modules are designed to

  • draw together the physical, intellectual and emotional strands of the course in a range of public performance events
  • replicate good professional practice in rehearsal and performance
  • allow a sustained experience of playing before public audiences of varied backgrounds, expectations and tastes and of taking the responsibility for carrying a role through an entire play
  • continue to develop the ability to analyse and learn from their own performances.
