ACTING
Exploring the acting process through a range of approaches aimed at developing technique, character work and nurturing each individual talent towards creative development.
IMPROVISATION
To develop and enhance individual creativity, imagination, spontaneity, responsiveness, confidence and flair.
ACTOR AND TEXT
Close contextual analysis of a range of dramatic texts to identify the stylistic demands of the actor. Integrating research methodology with practical application to acting.
ACTING FOR CAMERA/TELEVISION TECHNIQUE
To give an understanding of the specific demands of working in a studio or on location.
MOVEMENT
The opportunity to explore one's resources for controlled, free and expressive movement. The classes also require each student to employ their physical resources in a theatre communication.
PERFORMANCE PROJECTS
Intensive rehearsals to integrate specialist skills in areas that can include classical and modern book musicals, Shakespeare, modern text, song and dance and devising a musical, guided by professional Directors, Musical Directors and Choreographers.
SINGING
To learn, apply and develop technique in solo and ensemble work.
ACTING THROUGH SONG
Provides students with the opportunity to explore and develop the skills necessary to present solo/ensemble songs in audition and performance.
MUSIC THEORY & SIGHT SINGING
The understanding and application of basic notation including sight-singing, transposition, score reading and keyboard skills.
JAZZ
Jazz Dance, Jazz Pas-de-Deux, Audition classes and Choreography.
BALLET
Classical Ballet, Pas-de-Deux, Ballet Barre and Boys Technique.
BODY CONDITIONING
Circuit Training, Aerobics and Pilates.
VOICE
Working on undoing habitual tensions, releasing the breath, integrating the voice with support, application to text, sustainable choices, balancing resonance to work in different accents, styles and performance venues.
SPEECH
Working on an awareness of articulation agility, phonetics, RP and accents.
SIGHT READING
How to do a cold reading, how to confidently represent texts of differing styles with only a few moments preparation.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
An introduction to the Alexander Technique, working towards good alignment, good habitual usage of the body and voice and directing energy into performance.
STAGE COMBAT
Basic armed and unarmed combat.
AUDITION TECHNIQUE
To help students select audition pieces and songs that are right for them, to prepare them for the industrial circumstances of professional auditions and to guide them in how to present themselves appropriately to prospective employers.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Throughout the course there are a number of lectures and seminars providing the practical knowledge required to begin work as a performer.
ASSESSMENT
Assessments take place at varying points throughout the course. These assessments explore performance strengths and weaknesses as well as advising on areas of future development.
