Foundation Courses
The Foundation programme at Mountview is designed to equip students with an understanding and basic mastery of the skills and techniques required for performance in Acting or Musical Theatre. Essentially the programme is designed as a precursor to full-time training allowing students to build on skills and experience before going on to audition for Diploma, BA or PG courses. The course is also beneficial for students wishing to explore professional techniques without necessarily going on to further training.
The courses do not subscribe to one single methodology but acknowledge the contribution of numerous practitioners. This is reflected in the working methods employed by staff and highlights the courses emphasis on encouraging students to maintain their individuality and learn to develop their own personal approach.
Mountview has been running Foundation courses for many years and previous students have successfully gone on to train full time both at Mountview and other accredited drama schools.
Foundation in Acting
With a focus on Voice, Movement and Acting technique this programme aims to build a well-rounded performer. Links between these skill areas are developed over the year so that the student can leave the course with a solid approach to rehearsal and performance technique.
