With Tottenham Grammar School Foundation funding Mountview is now able to offer the Haringey Young Peoples Bursaries, which can provide tuition fee discounts to eligible Haringey residents who are attending any of the Mountview part-time courses.
Who is eligible:
Eddie Gower, Mountview’s Head of Short Courses ETC Department, explains the philosophy behind the new scheme:
'The Bursaries create fantastic opportunities for all 11 to 24-year olds living in Haringey to aspire to the very best in performing arts training, whatever their background. By removing the financial barrier of course fees the initiative allows us to create a diverse environment which truly represents the Haringey we live in today.'
Graham Chappell, Clerk to the Tottenham Grammar School Foundation, adds:
'This special initiative refreshes the Foundation’s longstanding partnership with Mountview. The recent global economic crisis has significantly reduced the level of funds available to the Trustees for distribution to students, schools and other charities. After a succession of difficult decisions over the last two years, the Trustees have been pleased to approve this innovative scheme which will improve access to Mountview’s world class programmes and facilities for residents who may have previously felt excluded on the grounds of cost.'
The Tottenham Grammar School Foundation is a Charity which promotes the education of persons under the age of 25 years who, or whose parents are, resident in the London Borough of Haringey or who have at any time attended as a pupil at a school in Haringey and who are in need of financial assistance.
In the 2010/2011 academic year over 230 bursaries ranging from £90-£645 were awarded to young people from the Borough of Haringey.
