One Year Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Theatre
The Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Theatre aims to provide students with both the theoretical and practical skills that will equip them to explore the many career opportunities within the profession of Technical Theatre. Building upon prior experience, students will progress skills in collaborative organisation, creative and logistical frame-working and critical evaluation. In addition they will experience the challenge of a fast-paced production environment to support the promotion of personal confidence and interpretative technical skills.
Specifically Mountview aims to:
- Support students in understanding the roles and responsibilities inherent in their chosen field of study.
- Progress their understanding of process and integration with other disciplines through practical study and research.
- Help students promote and execute their work as flexible, creative and reflective practitioners
- Support students in the management of their work and studies enabling them to define and suggest and plan their career choices.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Theatre is a one-year, three term course. The programme of study is ideal for students who wish to reinforce their skills in theatre arts production and work practically in the production of professional theatre and/or its associated industries.
Entry to the course is in September or in January. The September intake runs until August of the following year; the January intake completes the course in December of the same year. Throughout the course there are many career appraisals, take into account prior learning and career objectives. Although individual programmes of study are not possible, the cohort is small and through personal tutoring and independent studies students can achieve their individual objectives.
