Experience three weeks of intensive triple-threat musical theatre training at one of the UK’s top musical theatre drama schools.

Mountview created the UK’s first specialist three-year musical theatre course and has been training West End and Broadway stars for over 25 years. Our alumni including Olivier award-winners Giles Terera (Hamilton) and Rebecca Trehearn (Showboat), Evening Standard award-winner Tyrone Huntley (Jesus Christ Superstar) and most recently Sha Dessi (Eponine in Les Misérables) and Ben Joyce (Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys). Our Musical Theatre Summer Boot Camp is designed to offer an introduction and access to world-class drama school training at an affordable price. Taking place over three action-packed weeks, you’ll receive 90 hours of training from Mountview’s expert staff in our purpose-built and cutting-edge building in Peckham.

Working alongside industry professionals, you will learn how to select, prepare and perform songs and monologues, and ace your future auditions. Build dance stamina and strength, develop your musicality, unlock creativity, discover your vocal potential and more – each week will be packed with advice, training and tips.

In week one you’ll learn how to get to the heart of a character, use your body in serious dance training and express your soul though song.

This is 30 hours of intensive triple-threat training with sessions including:

  • Acting: unlock creativity, find a truthful connection and bring characters to life
  • Singing: discover the principles of vocal technique, develop musicality and improve your sight-reading
  • Dance: build stamina and strength, improve dance technique and learn to express yourself through dance

 

 

 

 

 

You’ve got one week to put all your performance skills together into one fiendish ensemble performance.

Working with a professional creative team, this intensive week will make you quicker at picking up direction, vocals and choreography: the focus is on attention to detail and rehearsal process.

This week will cement the vital triple-threat skills you need to succeed.

 

 

 

From getting into to drama school right through to working in the industry, the audition is key and you need to make those vital minutes count!

This week is packed with advice and tips, rehearsal and the inside track to unlocking success at your future drama school auditions.

Applicants must be aged 17 or over at the start of the course and must be fluent in English. We require a level of English that is approx. IELTS 6.0. It is not mandatory to have taken English language tests prior to attending this course; we recommend that for non-English speakers if you have not completed Level 6 IELTS that you must have the equivalent English language experience.

Mountview welcomes applications from people with disabilities and is keen to support all applicants to achieve their best. If applicants have any special requirements or access needs, these should be discussed with the course leader/administrator.

Do I need to audition?

No, the Summer Boot Camp is open application. The course content is designed to accommodate introductory work for people with little experience, to push people with an intermediate experience and allow the more experienced to brush up on skills.

Do you have accommodation for those taking part?

There is accommodation available close by at Bernard Myers House – an independent Hall of Residence just 15 minutes’ walk away with 123 self-catering ensuite rooms available at £192 per week, including wifi, heating and electricity. How big will the group sizes be?

There will be a maximum of 16 people in each class.

What about COVID-19 restrictions?

Health and Safety has been paramount in design of the course content. Group sizes are being kept deliberately small, to ensure that the course delivers rigorous training while maintaining the safest possible environment.

If COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were reinstated, meaning the course cannot proceed as planned, you will be offered a full refund and given the opportunity to book onto an alternative online-based course (subject to availability).

Please note that you will be expected to adhere to any COVID-19 building guidelines when attending the course, unless exempt.

Fees for short course are non-transferable.

If a student chooses to withdraw from a course after accepting a place, notice must be provided in writing and a refund will be made available in line with the table below:

No later than 28 days before course start date 100%
No later than 21 days before course start date 75%
No later than 14 days before course start date 50%
No later than 7 days before course start date 25%
After 7 days before course start date Nil

If a student chooses to leave a course prior to completion, full course fees still apply.

In the event that Mountview cancels or postpones a course due to circumstances beyond our control, any course fees paid will be reimbursed in full.  Should a course be cancelled once it has started, fees will be charged for training completed and a relevant % of course fees will be refunded to cover any training not taking place.

Mountview accepts no liability for loss of fees in the event that a student is unable to attend a course due to illness or accident, nor for expenses incurred by the student in advance of attending a course (which may include purchase of equipment, the cost of airfares, hotels) in the event that a course is cancelled or postponed.

It is strongly recommended that all students insure themselves to cover any potential losses.
