Gareth started his career as an electrician’s mate with Theatre Vision in Wales before moving on to his first venue Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon. He also freelanced as a lighting designer for Diversions (The National Dance Company of Wales), technical stage manager for Music Theatre Wales (Contemporary Opera) and freelance technical director for Powys Dance and Arts Active.
He moved on to specialise his skills in production sound by becoming the Deputy Chief LX (Head of Sound) at Sherman Cymru. He supported them as resident Sound/Video Engineer/Designer on productions, tours and site specific projects including three award-winning productions at the Edinburgh International Festival. During this time, Gareth worked with students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was technical ensemble leader for ISTA (The International School Theatre Association).
Most recently Gareth has been Production Sound Tutor for LAMDA where, over 5 years, he redesigned and developed the sound training for the Academy bringing it in line with modern practices and worked closely with industry partners to future proof the training and content.
