Online Summer Schools

We are pleased to introduce Mountview’s first ever online summer schools.

Following techniques developed by our full time and visiting staff teaching our renowned Acting and Musical Theatre courses we have created three one-week courses.

You can now experience Mountview’s world class training in the comfort of your own home.

All our courses deliver a rigorous artistic experience, allowing students to develop and progress as they would in person, in the building.

  • All courses will be delivered using ZOOM
  • All courses will be 100% live
  • All courses will be taught by professional actors, directors and core Mountview staff
  • All courses will have a maximum of 12 students (Acting Through Song and Monologue courses) / 14 students (Unlocking Shakespeare course) per group
  • Acting Through Song courses are taught by a director and musical director
  • Each day has been limited to 4.5 hours per day and structured to allow time away from the screen.

If you’re heading into a Musical Theatre audition and your song doesn’t work – the audition is over…

Working in a group of 12, with a Director and Musical Director, this week is a true conservatoire experience. The course will focus on developing a rehearsal process, selection of material, musicality and song interpretation.

To get the most out of this course, participants should have at least one classical song and one contemporary song prepared in advance. We would suggest these are taken from the Musical Theatre repertoire.

FAQs

What equipment/space will I need?

All classes will be delivered through the ZOOM platform. To get the most out of the course we would suggest you use a lap-top or desk-top computer rather than a phone. We would also suggest that you ensure you have a good secure access to Wi-Fi/Internet connection. You will also need a suitable space in your home where you can participate in classes/workshops. We would suggest this is a private space that will allow you to engage vocally and physically in the work.

Most importantly you will need a pen and paper – you don’t want to forget key messages!

For specific courses, particularly Musical Theatre you may also need additional equipment – these may include a good quality speaker/sound system and microphone (separate to computer).

Who will I be working with?

The sessions will be led by working professionals and core Mountview staff. All practitioners have worked at the highest level in the industry and are passionate about passing knowledge on to the next generation of actors.

Do I have to do every session?

Yes! The courses are designed to provide a progression of learning. They are not a collection of separate workshops. To get a genuine Mountview experience full attendance is essential.

Do I have to audition to get on the course?

No. The courses are open application and accessible for everyone. They are designed to accommodate introductory work for people with little experience, to push people with an intermediate experience and allow the more experienced to brush up on skills.

Who is this course for?

These courses are designed for everyone regardless of prior experience. They will provide introductory level training while also providing the opportunity for people with more experience to brush up on skills and solidify techniques and artistry.

Due to the intensive nature of our courses fluency in the English language is essential.

Do I have to be 18 to take part?

Due to online safeguarding restrictions all participants must be at least 18 years old
