The first part of a New York, Los Angeles, London triptych, Mountview’s Musical Theatre students bring you a celebration of the musical theatre heritage and culture of New York.

This is an educational project.

Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes (no interval)

This show contains language which may cause offence.

Please note that this is an academic assessment, and there will be no public in-person performances for New York. The production will be filmed and available to view for free for three weeks from Wednesday 11 November – if you wish to view the recording please register your interest via the ‘book online’ button and you will be sent the viewing link via email. The link will remain viewable for three weeks.

Katie Henry

Director

Katie is an accomplished theatre director, facilitator and coach with a proven track record in making inclusive theatre for diverse audiences from small to large scale.

Katie directed the version of War Horse (National Theatre) that returned to commemorate the Centenary of Armistice and the recent UK and international tour.

She was Associate Director for Richard Eyre on Long Day’s Journey into Night for Bristol Old Vic (West End/ US tour). Her theatre company Stand Fast Theatre is developing its first commission, Motherland

Katie is a senior theatre practitioner with extensive experience as a facilitator, teacher and mentor. Working regularly at Mountview, ArtsEd, St Mary’s University, and the Orange Tree Theatre.

Katie is a trained Co-Active life coach, working with individuals and groups to live a more fulfilling life.

Nick Barstow

Musical Director

Nick Barstow is a musical director, arranger, composer and performer.

He was musical supervisor and re-orchestrator for the new actor-musician production of Zorro, and prior to that re-orchestrated and supervised the UK premiere of Rags. He was a lead producer for the newly released Original London Cast album, alongside the show’s lyricist Stephen Schwartz.

As a performer and producer, Nick runs cabaret series RE:Arrangement which originated at Brasserie Zedel in August 2018 and has since toured the UK and Ireland.

Amanda Mascarenhas

Set and Costume Designer

Amanda is a theatre designer and visual artist. She works in theatre, television and events. She is also a facilitator, maker and community artist.

She is Associate Artist to Kazzum Arts and The Kings Head Theatre, and a Trustee of The Kings Head Theatre.

Credits include: Cuttin’ It (Royal Exchange, Manchester), Coming Clean (Trafalgar Studios), It Takes a Village (Royal Opera House), Our Voice, Our Way (Wellcome Trust), Wonder Girl (Ovalhouse), Anna Hibiscus (Discovery Centre), La Traviata (Kings Head Theatre), Run it Back (Talawa Theatre), A Sublime Feeling (Salisbury Playhouse), The Boy and the Mermaid (Paper Balloon), East Meets West (Soho Theatre) and Scrub a Dub (Halfmoon Theatre).

Grace Harrington

Choreographer

Grace is a Senior Dance Tutor at Mountview.

Adam King

Lighting Designer

Adam originally trained at Mountview and has since gone on to work as assistant lighting designer to Neil Austin on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Palace Theatre) and Bend It Like Beckham (Pheonix Theatre).

His own recent credits include: Snowflake/Tornado Stewart Lee (UK tour), Beyond Therapy (UK tour), Royal Ballet School (Royal Opera House/Opera Holland Park/Linbury Theatre), Original Death Rabbit The Wasp (Jermyn Street Theatre) Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin (Harlow Playhouse), The Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast (New Theatre Royal Portsmouth).

Robin Nash

Sound Designer

Robin started his theatrical career at the Victoria Palace London as a stage hand moving to lighting shows in the fringe then sound at the Mermaid Theatre for the RSC and to 42nd Street (Drury Lane).

He moved into the world of rock n’ roll working with acts from Genesis to Oasis, as well as numerous corporate events and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? for CTV as vision engineer. He still works with CTV on Match of the Day and a regular for the BAFTAs for the past 10 years.

Sound designs for Mountview: Our House, Romeo and Juliet, A Clockwork Orange and the recent Macbeth.
