A doomed romantic comedy.

These violent delights have violent ends… 

A playful reimagining of this classic ill-fated love story, with references to contemporary and universal barriers that echo those of the timeless young lovers.  

This play features scenes of a sexual nature, violence, references to drug use, themes of death and suicide, latex balloons, sudden loud bangs and strobe lighting.

Duration: 2 hours 35 minutes (including a 15-minute interval)

Dan Herd

Director

Dan is Director of Public Performance at Mountview.

As a director, he worked at The Old Vic, Theatre Royal Haymarket, Soho Theatre, Theatre503, Arcola, Project Arts Centre and Smock Alley Theatre (Dublin), Latitude Festival, Edinburgh Fringe and Off-Broadway.

He was Artistic Associate at Soho Theatre. Previously for Mountview: Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Romeo and Juliet, Alice in Wonderland, The Wolves, King Lear, Hamlet, A Clockwork Orange, Boy, Six Characters in Search of an Author and Legally Blonde.

Timo Tatzber

Choreographer

Timo is a performer and choreographer from Vienna. He graduated from Mountview’s BA (Hons) Performance - Musical Theatre course in 2022. Creative credits include Choreographer: In and Out of Knowing (original production), Award for Best Choreography on international competitions for Augen Auf, and Stand By Me (Indeed Unique), Mountview’s BA Musical Theatre Showcase 2022, 10 to 10 (short film), The Little Mermaid (European premier) and the official German translation of The Theory of Relativity.

Frankie Gerrard

Set Designer

Frankie trained at LIPA.

Credits include: A Typical Rainbow (Turbine Theatre), The Girl of Ink and Stars (Watermill Theatre), Where We Stand (Blackheath Halls), The Collective (Rose Theatre), Perfectly Ordinary, The Pride, Proof and Things We Want (Hope Mill Theatre), Wilderness (LAMDA), How to Disappear Completely and Never be Found (Liverpool Playhouse), The Beau Defeated (HOME Theatre), Linda, Road (Manchester School of Acting) and We Happy Few (Manchester School of Acting).

Assistant and Associate credits include: Sister Act (UK tour), Love Never Dies (international tour), Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat (UK tour), Ragtime (ArtsEd), Sleepless in Seattle (Troubadour Theatre) and Skellig (Nottingham Playhouse).

Steve Heywood

Lighting Designer

Steve has spent his life working in the technical industry.

He started designing shows in the local Oxford area and was soon working on the international touring music scene.

As well as a designer Steve also works as a production manager and lighting programmer.

His clients include The Oxford Festival of the Arts and Garsington Opera, and he has worked for bands including Hurts, Keane, Glass Animals and Nothing But Thieves.

The Wolves is his first design at Mountview having been Head of Academic Lighting Training here in 2021.

Russell Ditchfield

Sound Designer

Russell is a sound designer and composer from Lancashire. Credits include: Groan Ups (Vaudeville West End/UK tour), Going the Distance (Oxford Playhouse/Lawrence Batley/The Dukes Theatre), Merry Christmas Carol (Royal Court Liverpool), Home, I’m Darling (Bolton Octagon), Macbeth (Lawrence Batley Theatre), Parakeet (Edinburgh Festival), My Beautiful Black Dog (Bush Theatre), Fear and Misery of the Third Reich and Katzenmusik (Andew Lloyd Webber Theatre) and Carousel (The Mack).

Hadley Smith

Fight Choreographer

Hadley graduated from Mountview in 2015.

He has worked as an actor, fight performer and stunt double on a variety of productions.

Some highlights include: Wendy and Peter Pan (Leeds Playhouse), Emmerdale (ITV) and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4).

In 2021, Hadley qualified as stage combat instructor with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.

His recent choreography credits include: The Mirror and The Light (RSC), Kynren – An Epic Tale of England (Eleven Arches).
