This world premiere by award-winning playwright Roy Williams charts the life of Michelle, who struggles to rebuild her life after a brutal encounter. Moving through several decades, this is a resonant story that exposes some harsh realities. The Fear is about police violence, inequality and why black lives matter.

Lekan Lawal is a 2019 winner of the Genesis Future Directors Award. Most recently he has directed Superblackman (Battersea Arts Centre) and Wild East (Young Vic). Further credits include, HY Brasil (Old Vic) and Betrayal (Derby Theatre).

Roy Williams is a Bafta, Evening Standard and Alfred Fagon award-winning playwright whose work includes Soul, Wildefire, Advice for the Young at Heart and Sucker Punch. He was appointed OBE in 2008 and sits on the board of trustees for Theatre Centre. In 2018 he was a made a fellow of The Royal Society of Literature.
