GENERATION NEXT 2026

Welcome to Generation Next

Registration for the Spring Term 2026 has now closed. Information below is for reference only. Details about the Summer Term will be published here in early April.

On Saturdays, Generation Next turns Mountview into a learning and social hub for young people aged 6-18 from Peckham, South London and beyond. The programme offers a range of 10-week workshops which run alongside school term times, giving young people the chance to develop skills, explore their creativity, and connect with each other in a supportive, fun and inspiring environment. Workshops currently offered include Musical Theatre, Acting, Hip-Hop, Ballet and Tae Kwon Do.

We are based in the heart of Peckham, in an accessible building with purpose-built studios and performance spaces.

Prices start at £6 per workshop, and to ensure that everyone can access the programme, we offer means-tested bursaries for Southwark residents, with more than half of participants qualifying for support.

We encourage participants, where possible, to commit to a 1-year cycle. This enables them to build skills and friendships and to take part in a variety of sharing/project opportunities. However, sign-ups are on a termly basis, to enable the flexibility that a termly commitment can offer.

Autumn term (connect)
The autumn focus is on building core skills and community. Participants will learn new skills, strengthen existing knowledge and connect with other young people. Peer-to-peer studio sharings in the final week of term provide an opportunity to celebrate achievements and for individual and group reflection.

Spring term (explore)
In spring, discovery and collaboration are at the fore. Skills-building continues, and participants are invited to contribute some of their own ideas and explore them with their peers, guided by experienced practitioners. They will experiment with different ways of creating, learning and collaborating and continue developing confidence.

Summer term (create)
At the end of the summer term, participants from all workshops deliver a live performance for their parents, carers and families in one of Mountview’s dedicated performance spaces. The ten-week term builds towards this, ensuring that the young people have ample time for learning and rehearsing in a fun and supported environment.

FAQs

Do I have to be a Southwark resident to take part?

No, anyone is welcome to attend. However, only Southwark residents are eligible to apply for the bursary scheme.

Who delivers the workshops?

The sessions will be led by the Generation Next team; all industry professionals with experience of, and passion for, working with young people to explore and develop their talents.

Are there auditions?

No. Generation Next is open to everyone. Workshops are designed to include introductory basics for young people with no experience, to encourage participants with some experience to develop their skills further, and to allow more practiced participants to devise, rehearse and explore new creative heights.

I've applied for a bursary. Does this mean my child is booked into their workshop/s?

No, until you have sent the necessary documents and been invited to book, your child is not registered. Remember that demand is high for workshops, and places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

I've previously applied for a bursary. Will I need to apply again?

If you have never had a Generation Next bursary before, you need to complete the application form.

People who held bursaries in the 24/25 year may not need to apply again. Please check your bursary status with Teni from 29 November before completing a new form. Continued bursary support depends on a good absence and lateness record and is not automatic.

Will my child need to bring anything?

They should wear comfortable clothing that they can move around in and bring a bottle of water. If attending more than one workshop, or a workshop that lasts longer than an hour, they might want to bring snacks. Please note that there is currently no tuckshop provision.

Generation Next is generously supported by The 29th May 1961 Charitable Trust, Garfield Weston and Newcomen Collett Educational Foundation.
