Mountview in Peckham: a new studio destination

Mountview in Peckham has a range of studios, theatres and work spaces available for hire along with a large-scale rehearsal room.

Studios

Acting and dance studios are available in the evenings, weekends and holidays for hire for classes, meetings and rehearsals. Studios measure between 10x8m and 10x10m and have ceiling heights of 3.4m. They are ideal for dance and movement work, rehearsals and choirs.

There are also two soundproof specialist TV studios and a radio/voice over suite available for hire.

Professional Rehearsal Space

On the third floor is Mountview’s commercial rehearsal space available to professional companies throughout the year. The 190m² space measures 15m x 12.5m and has a robust dance floor, goods lift access directly from the delivery yard and1.5m-wide doors. The room comes with an upright piano and mirrors.

Ceiling height is 2.8m.

There is also an adjoining kitchen space and showers available for use.

A company management/meeting room and additional rehearsal space are also available for hire.

Theatres

On the ground floor are Mountview’s two theatre spaces.

The Backstage Theatre is an 80-seat flexible theatre space with maximum playing area of 12.5mx10m.

Mountview Theatre is a 200-seat theatre available for hire.

Mountview’s Peckham home is just three miles from the South Bank, less than ten minutes’ walk from Peckham Rye station (London Overground, National Rail). You can get direct trains to London Bridge (12 minutes), Victoria (15 minutes) and St Pancras International (25 minutes).

There are disabled parking spaces, electric charging points and multiple bike racks on site. There is car parking on Cerise Road, a five-minute walk away.

The building is open Monday to Saturday, from 8am till 11pm.

“Whizz Kid Entertainment and BAFTA used one of the studios at Mountview as a location for a shoot with the host of the BAFTA Film Awards 2019, Joanna Lumley.

We needed a large, relatively empty studio that could be dressed for various set-ups and also house an area for wardrobe (numerous costume changes) and make-up and hair. We used the TV studio and it was ideal on all levels – it was super helpful that the studio was sound-proofed and that there was a café and a pizza restaurant within Mountview for crew coffees and lunch.

There are few multi-purpose spaces of this kind in London that are competitively priced.

There’s lots of resources on site – lifts, showers, some parking and whilst you can bring in your own catering there’s also a delicious reasonably priced pizzeria and coffee bar. It’s currently a hidden gem of a filming location, staffed by an unflappable, helpful and accommodating team.
