Gwenan Bain

Gwenan (she/her) was the Bread & Roses Theatre’s Emerging Director for 2018 and is an associate artist with BolSHE, a creative collective for Welsh & Wales-based women. Directing credits include Somewhere to Belong (touring 2022), Existential Fish and Dread (★★★★ TheReviewsHub) and Maisie (★★★★ Broadway World). Assistant credits include Romeo and Juliet (★★★★ The Guardian), The Wolves (Mountview, dir. Dan Herd) and It Tastes Like Home (Bread and Roses Theatre). Nick Bond

Nick (he/him) is a musical theatre and opera director and current Young Associate Board Director for Buxton International Festival. He studied a BA in Music and Drama at the University of Manchester, where he was awarded a commendation of excellence for the Meera Syal Award for Outstanding Practical Work.

Nathaniel Brimmer-Beller

Nathaniel (he/him) is a mixed-race, Black and Jewish playwright and director from Washington DC, located in the UK since 2015. He has directed 21 theatrical productions and written ten original plays, including five premieres at the Edinburgh Fringe and two London transfers – most recently the media satire Press (★★★★★ “Genius” – Broadway Baby), returning to Edinburgh with Pleasance this summer. His work was recently performed at the Almeida Theatre, and his company Black Bat Productions continues to develop new work.

Esalan Gates

Since 2016, Esalan (she/her) has written for festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe and Durham Drama Festival. While completing her English BA at Durham she directed plays with a focus on accessible but impactful Shakespeare. Her interest in literature, art and economics collided in Sharps, marking her London writing/directing debut.

Kieran McCarthy-Hoare

Kieran (he/him) is a freelance director and theatre maker from the North West, currently based in London. A current masters student at Mountview, specialising in theatre directing; as well as a graduate of Liverpool John Moores Drama where he won the 2020 Lynda La Plante prize for Outstanding Practice. As a director Kieran aims to incorporate his lived experience as a working class, queer creative to tell authentic and diverse stories. He is also an associate director and young peoples mentor for northern based company Imaginarium Theatre UK

Emily Oxley

Emily (she/her) is a director from London. Her passion lies in queer and female centred stories. She wants to make work that explores not only the intricacies and difficulties faced by these communities but also (and more importantly) their many joys. Prior to Mountview she was the Artistic Director of Three Pound Coin Theatre, a queer theatre company based in Edinburgh focused on amplifying marginalised voices.

Charles Quittner

Charles (he/they) is a director/producer from Brooklyn and Miami facilitating new work, queer nightlife, and pizza parties. Directing credits: Cory & Smin’s Love Conquers the Earth, protest, Boscoe Barles Bestival, Cowboy, TOXIC IF SWALLOWED (Ars Nova, The LGBT Center), Everyday Afroplay (JACK), He Hurt Himself in His Confusion! Phoebe Rowell John

Phoebe (she/her) began theatre-making as part of Chickenshed Young Company, and went on to direct various productions while studying History at Cambridge. Her work includes Escaped Alone, Crouch Touch Pause Engage (Corpus Playroom), and Guys and Dolls (ADC Theatre). As an assistant: rob steal swindle (Mountview), A View From The Bridge (ADC) and Antigone (Corpus).

Yani Wang

Yani Wang (she/her) is a director from Beijing, China. She previously trained with Anne Bogart and SITI company, Norman Taylor, Odin Theater and Central Academy of Drama. Directing credits: Vagina Saying (Beijing Nanluoguxiang Performing Arts Festival; Beijing Undergraduate Fringe Art’s Festival); The Mother (Mountview). Associate/Assisting Director credits: Mirage 2099 (2020 Wan Award – Bronze, Golden Edge Award); Carrie, Twelfth Night and Actor-Musician Showcase (all Mountview).
