Mountview in 1955-1965: Mountview Theatre Club Continues

Mountview recognised the growing interest in backstage work and launched its first Technical Course in March 1964.

“Many Club supporters are interested in the technical side of production, and, in response to many requests a Technical Course is being made available, starting on March 9th which will cover all aspects of backstage work – stage management, lighting, scene construction, prop making, design, scene painting and so on.”

In 1963 a small group of Mountview Theatre Club members met to discuss the possibility of film as an extension of the Theatre’s activities, and the North London Film Theatre was formed. The first film, shown in April 1964 was the classic Citizen Kane, directed by Orson Welles.
