Crossroads Live partner on new licensable edition of hit musical Babies at Mountview
9 Sep 2026
Mountview and leading global theatrical producers Crossroads Live, Alchemation & Indigo Productions are delighted to announce the world premiere of the newly developed, licensable version of Babies, the hit coming-of-age musical by Martha Geelan and Jack Godfrey, in advance of a general licensing release next year.
Crossroads Live partners with Mountview on the Crossroads Live Scholarships, which were launched in 2023 and support students from underrepresented backgrounds. Additionally, Crossroads Live run industry masterclasses and offer show support at the Peckham based drama school. Their contribution is vital for nurturing a diverse, skilled pipeline of performers ready to work in the creative industries. In addition to Crossroads Live’s generous sponsorship, Mountview has been granted the exclusive first license for Babies before the title becomes available for general licensing.
Babies captured audience imaginations with a highly acclaimed run at The Other Palace in 2024, following a sell-out concert run at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue in 2023. The musical began its journey with British Youth Music Theatre, where it won the New Music Theatre Award and received its first developmental production, before undergoing further development and workshops.
Over the past 18 months, writers Martha Geelan and Jack Godfrey have been refining the piece and workshopping with Mountview students to create a dynamic, flexible version specifically designed for licensing by youth theatres, schools, and drama schools globally. The finished script will be available in both UK and US versions and will soon be launching into the international amateur and educational licensing markets, with a release date to be confirmed.
The production forms part of Mountview’s Autumn undergraduate performance season, which also includes FROZEN, AS YOU LIKE IT, MOCKINGBIRD 1, A CHRISTMAS CAROL and MUSEUM.
Sally Ann Gritton, Principal & CEO of Mountview, commented:

James Lane, Director of Content at Crossroads Live, added:
“At Crossroads Live, we are deeply committed to nurturing the future of British theatre both on stage and behind the scenes. Having developed Babies from its early stages through to professional production, and now to this exciting new licensable edition, we couldn’t think of a better home for the premiere of this next chapter than Mountview. Our ongoing partnership with Mountview allows us to support extraordinary emerging talent, and witnessing these brilliant third-year students bring this version to life will be a proud moment for us all.”
