Mountview Launches New Manchester-Based Foundation Course

We are thrilled to be embarking on our first training course outside London this September, at the Z-arts centre in Manchester. The full time, one-year Musical Theatre Foundation course will provide vocational training as a standalone qualification or provide a stepping stone for those wishing to go on to study at degree level.

Abigail Morris, Mountview Artistic Director and CEO, said:

“I’m delighted to be announcing our new Foundation Musical Theatre course in Manchester. We at Mountview are committed to developing opportunities for drama school training outside London so we can increase our accessibility and make our world-class training available to as many and varied people as possible.”

Z-arts is a Manchester-based training school with a range of resident companies, offering activities and performance opportunities for young people. Its geographical position allows access to Mountview’s world-class musical theatre training for students prevented from accessing it in London. The decision to run a course in Manchester reflects our ambition to increase Mountview’s offering and build drama school training opportunities across the UK.

Led by experienced actor and teacher Paul-Ryan Carberry, students will be taught core technique in acting, singing and dance whilst being encouraged to develop their personal creativity and artistic identity. The training also includes focused audition preparation, allowing students to develop technique and repertoire for future drama school or professional auditions. Students will receive over 30 hours of teaching each week over two terms between September and April.
