Mountview in 1985–1995: A New Chapter at Wood Green

The decade between 1985 and 1995 saw Mountview stepping into an exciting new phase of growth, with fresh spaces and wider horizons shaping student life and training.

In 1986, the school expanded into additional premises in Wood Green, with the new facilities named the Sir Ralph Richardson Memorial Studios. The move opened up new possibilities for rehearsal, performance and creative exploration, quickly becoming a central part of daily life at Mountview.

This spirit of expansion also reached beyond the UK. In October 1988, a Mountview production travelled to Alingsås, Sweden, for a three-week tour — an early example of the school’s international outlook, giving students the chance to perform abroad and share their work with new audiences.
