Originally training with the ABTT becoming a qualified Electrician, Tom enjoyed time in the West End follow spotting at the Palladium, before becoming a lighting technician at the ENO. Progressing quickly up through the ranks to Head Technician and then Lighting Manager.
Developing his love of lighting design during this role; lighting a number of opera productions for the ENO and others both domestic and internationally.
With a view to changing tack, crossed Covent Garden to start working at the ROH progressing through to Technical Manager responsible for Health and Safety, scheduling and training.
Crossing back again to the ENO as the Head of Technical Operations overseeing large and award winning opera productions.
Following a short freelance career exploring the touring sector and Edinburgh Fringe, took up a short term position of Risk and Technical Director at the Old Vic covering inhouse technical oversight whilst the first renovation was undertaken.
Following a growing desire to move to education left the producing theatre sector to take up the position of Technical Manager and then Head of Production (Technical) at Mountview with the brief to develop and deliver industry levels of technical performance in the two theatres.
Tom brings industry skills and experience spanning a number of areas including lighting, electrical and special effect skills, Health and safety, production management and general technical management and experience.
He continues to light the filmed showcases and other commissions when time allows.
