Mountview facilities, student accommodation and more

THE MOUNTVIEW BUILDING

Our unique, purpose-built home in the heart of Peckham has been designed specifically to facilitate and nurture contemporary arts training.

All facilities are state-of-the-art. Dance and acting studios feature sprung floors, wall-mounted barres, mirrored walls, upright pianos and PA systems, while practice rooms are fully-equipped for solo practice and 1:1 lessons. Our TV studios feature soundproofing and a full technical control room.

The building contains two industry-standard theatres; the perfect stage for students to showcase and develop their work in a setting that prepares them for the professional industry. The Mack is a 182-seat proscenium arch theatre with an orchestra pit, two-tier seating and professional-grade technical facilities that meet current industry standards. The Backstage Theatre is a fully-flexible black-box theatre space that adapts to the creative vision of each production, featuring advanced lighting and sound technology

Our building is a constant hub of creativity, and outside of the studios and theatres students will find plenty of ‘break-out’ spaces, a common room to study and socialise with peers, and a fully-equipped library.

Information on our regional CertHE locations can be found on the CertHE page.

ACCOMMODATION

Bernard Myers House

Bernard Myers House is a Hall of Residence managed by Capitol Students just 15 minutes’ walk away with 121 self-catering ensuite rooms and 2 semi-accessible studio flats available at around £250 per week. Wifi, heating and electricity are included, and facilities include laundry, bike racks and a 24-hour warden.

Rooms in Bernard Myers House are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis – if you are interested in one of these, please contact the Registry team about availability and full terms. If successful, please note that your contract will be with Capitol Students and not with Mountview.

Please note that we do not currently have student accommodation partnerships in any of our CertHE regional locations.

Shared Houses

Second and third year students usually opt to move into shared houses.

Local rents are around £600-750 per month for a room in a shared house, plus wifi, utilities and transport costs. The Student Union provides help for students looking for shared house options.

Peckham is incredibly well connected by public transport and there are many other areas within a 15-minute bus ride that offer more affordable housing options including Catford, Deptford, New Cross, Lewisham, Surrey Quays, South Bermondsey and Old Kent Road.

Council Tax

Students enrolled on a full-time course at Mountview are exempt from paying council tax, although they are responsible for applying for the exemption. Councils will need proof of full-time student status, and Mountview provides students with student certificates at enrolment which are suitable for this. Further information can be found here.
