Ruth Naylor-Smith - Head of Movement

Ruth trained with Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She was an actor and movement director for 15 years working with a range of companies from English Shakespeare Company to Horse and Bamboo. She was co-founder and co-artistic director of Torsion Theatre for seven years.

Ruth also works for Turtle Key Arts. With them she has acted, directed shows and devised numerous projects in partnership with English Touring Opera, Little Angel, Royal College of Music, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Court Theatre. The last show she directed was Arc by Ockham’s Razor that opened at the London International Mime Festival and continues to tour to festivals internationally. Ruth has taught at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and at Mountview since 2005. Ruth wrote the movement chapter for A Practical Guide to Devised and Collaborative Theatre published by Crowood Press.
