Sunday in the Park with George

20-27 April | The Mack

“You think it’s all together
Then something falls apart…”

Inspired by the life of French pointillist painter Georges Seurat, Sunday in the Park with George follows the artist through the trials and tribulations of making his masterpiece while making a life with his lover, Dot. With its soaring score, ingenious lyrics and iconically inventive theatricality, this is one of the greatest pieces of musical theatre.

Crafted by Stephen Sondheim, this Pulitzer, Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical is performed by Mountview’s Musical Theatre students.

22-25 April | Backstage Theatre

“Everyone stop what you’re doing. And watch this. Now.”

In the midst of unrest in a country far from this one, a woman lies dead in the street – the yellow dress she wears sparking the flame of revolution. Everything is going to change. Everyone will be affected.

This taut political thriller of a play, laced with contemporary urgency, is performed by Mountview’s Musical Theatre students in a propulsive and exciting new production.

The Merry Wives of Windsor

10-18 May | The Mack

“When dogs run, all sorts of deer are chased…”

A riotous spin of love, marriage and subterfuge, The Merry Wives of Windsor follows Shakespeare’s comic icon Falstaff as he attempts to raise his fortunes by wooing two rich women at once. But once the wives wise up to his tricks, who will come out on top?

Shakespeare’s loud and rambunctious comedy is given a freewheeling, deeply silly 1970s spin in this production by Mountview’s Acting students.

16-23 May | Backstage Theatre

A Play about Junk. Featuring Junk Music played by a Junk Orchestra.

For the rowdy, sweary, endlessly-scrapping bunch of kids that are Fiz, Talc, Higgy, Ginger, Loppy and Tilly, living in 1970s Bristol is bleak. But their teacher Rick is convinced that a pile of old junk and whole bunch of can-do attitude can turn things around for them. But now, as their ‘playground’ is built around them, they’re not so sure…

Based on true events (ish) and blending music with hilariously honest storytelling, acclaimed playwright’s Jack Thorne’s Junkyard is performed by Mountview’s Actor Musicianship students in a vibrant, mischievous and unique production.
