Café on the Beach

22 Jun

The sun’s out and the surf’s up but the pressure never stops for the staff of the Café on the Beach.

A new season starts for the staff of this Cornish café on the beach, but with some new staff and a new owner joining the team, tensions soon rise. Local girl and long-time manager Maz has managed tough situations before, and it doesn’t take her long to get the café and all the staff running like clockwork. But this year things are different, and the pressure may be too much for even her to bear.

Fast action, music and fun are at the fore in a snapshot view of the harsh realities of living and working in coastal communities.

Before Moving to London, Millie lived in Cornwall where most of her work was at The Minack, most recently Directing Carl Grose’s Superstition Mountain which then went on to tour last year. Previous to this Millie was Assistant Director on The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Wolves of Willoughby Chase. Millie has performed at the Minack in the roles of Bobby in The Railway Children and Miss Thorne in Goodnight, Mister Tom, a role she later reprised in 2018 with BTA (Southwark Playhouse). Millie also ran two regular youth theatres and worked as a Director on The Minack Acting Academy.

This play contains strong language and mild suicidal themes. Suitable for ages 12+ years.
