Course Overview

The Part-Time Musical Theatre course at Mountview has been designed to enable access for people who are committed to furthering their training but are not in a position to enrol in full-time study. The course takes place on three evenings a week for six months and provides the core elements of musical theatre training while developing creativity and artistic identity. Students develop technique, repertoire, and confidence for further opportunities.

The course can support participants from a wide range of backgrounds and at different stages of their training journeys, including but not limited to:

  • Developing foundational skills before pursuing full-time training (BA or MA)
  • Exploring vocational musical theatre training out of interest
  • Advancing existing skills to enter the industry without formal training

Alumni of Mountview’s part-time programmes have secured places at Mountview, RADA, Guildhall, LAMDA, Arts Ed, Italia Conti, Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford and GSA, as well as going directly into work in the industry.

The course is taught from October to March on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 7pm – 9:30pm.

The course is split into three units. The first will focus on foundational skills in acting, singing, and dance. The second will dive deeper into these skills with workshops in acting through song, musical theatre dance styles and monologue preparation. In between Units 2 and 3, there will be a two-week audition intensive, focused solely on audition prep including participating in mock auditions with a feedback session. Unit 3 includes workshops in screen acting, guidance on self-tapes and showreels, and rehearsals. An informal ensemble sharing on the last night of the course concludes the programme.

While the course is part-time in its delivery, its content and intensity are demanding. Applicants are required to confirm their commitment to and capacity for complete attendance during the application process.
