Marina Caldarone

A theatre director since 1984, Marina was a recipient of the Channel 4 Regional Theatre Young Directors Award.

She spent 4 years as Associate Director at Theatr Clwyd, closely followed by 6 years as Artistic Director of the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, and a residency at the National Theatre Studio.

Her productions have toured nationally and internationally, and she has produced in the West End – Lust (Haymarket Theatre). She has been actively involved in actor training for 40 plus years (The Actors Centre and Actors Guilds) and has taught and directed shows in the majority of drama schools in the UK.

She is the co-author of the set text, Actions: The Actors’ Thesaurus. She has compiled monologue and duologue publications for Nick Hern Books and Methuen and is currently in commission for The Big Book of Audio.

A radio drama producer since 2000, she has produced countless dramas and audio books for Radio 3 and Radio 4. She is a regular director on The Archers.

Marina has led the Theatre Programme for IES Abroad London since 2000. She is an acting coach in television, film, theatre and the corporate sector, and an advocate for the transferable skills of actor training.

She has been Drama Director of Crying Out Loud Productions since 2000, directing audio content from animation to documentaries. She joined the exam board Trinity College London in 2015 as Senior Drama Consultant.

Marina was delighted to join the Mountview Exams team in 2023, as Mountview rolled out their performance qualifications and made their benchmarks of excellence available to all.
