MA Theatre Directing 2024/25

 Ophelia Fellhauer

Ophelia is a director currently training at Mountview. Originally from Germany, she specialises in new writing and contemporary plays. She recently graduated from Exeter University, where she was Artistic Director of the Exeter University Theatre Company. With her theatre company Spot on the Ceiling Productions, she made her Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2024 with SOS BRN after a sold-out run at the Exeter Phoenix. Most recently, she has assistant directed Lyndsey Turner on The Hunt (Mountview).

 

Eric Moll

Eric is a theatre practitioner from Anchorage, Alaska, who has been living in the UK since 2021. Selected directing credits include Into the Woods (Bangor University), and Dream & Variation (Bangor University; also co-writer and composer). At Mountview, he has assistant-directed for Jeremy Lloyd Thomas and Martin Parr on The Baker’s Wife and A Little Night Music, respectively.

 

Chris Lancaster

Chris makes work that has societal and emotional impact. He’s best known for Lost Boy, which shone a light on the issue of child-trafficking, was featured on BBC Newsnight, and led to social policy change. At Mountview he has assisted Shane Dempsey (Solaris) and Bec Martin (Much Ado About Nothing).

 

Cece Walker

Cece is a queer and feminist director committed to intersectional work. Selected credits include 9 to 5 (UCL Bloomsbury Theatre) and a gender-blind production of Big Fish (UCL). She has assisted on an all-female Julius Caesar with Federay Holmes (Mountview) and A Streetcar Named Desire with Seán Linnen (Mountview).

 

Jessica Harmer-Smith

Jessica is a director and facilitator passionate about human-centred storytelling. She trained at FONACT and recently directed FOUL (Brighton Fringe). She wants to create imaginative, feminist, and political work that provokes and connects audiences.

 

Alfie Chesney

Alfie Chesney most recently directed a tour of La Traviata with Barefoot Opera. With roots in classical music and theatre, he is now developing work across genres, exploring new forms beyond traditional opera. Alfie is inspired by audience-centred work.

 

Nepheli Velissariou

Nepheli is a young Greek director and recent graduate of Bristol University, where she directed Grease (Winston Theatre) and Twelfth Night (Clifton Hill Theatre), while also serving on the Musical Theatre Society committee. She was part of the creative team for Flytrap at the 2024 Bristol Fringe and recently assisted James Robert Moore on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Mountview. Her work centres on evoking deep, honest emotion.

 

Zhaoyi Ying

Zhaoyi Ying is a young artist who grew up in Shanghai. Her theatre works were selected for both the Shanghai International Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Arts Festival. She is interested in female stories and other things that she cannot yet describe properly.
