Meet our Sound Student: Jeremie Ndombasi
Meet Jeremie Ndombasi, our first year FDA/BA Theatre Production Arts – Sound Student
What attracted you to this industry, and what made you choose Mountview?
I have always been into all things behind the scenes. With my musical background, I was pulled
towards Live Sound. The fact that Mountview specialise in sound right from the first year is what
made me favour Mountview over other drama schools and it has been the best decision I have
ever made!
What has been your best Mountview experience to date?
I really enjoyed doing the Production Skills Module as I was given an insight into all the roles
backstage in practical workshops. It was really interesting seeing how all the departments work
together.
What are you most looking forward to as part of your time at Mountview?
Meeting and working with new people. So far I have met so many new people in the short time I
have been at Mountview and I can’t wait to meet more.
Who has been your biggest mentor/s?
One of my biggest mentors so far has been Wayne Harris. He is the Production Sound Engineer
here at Mountview. In the short time I have known him, he does not hesitate to take the time to
fully explain something to me that I don’t understand. I have learned so much from him and I
can’t wait to learn more.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned so far?
“You’re only as good as your last job”
Who is your personal inspiration in the industry and why?
I would have to say Hyder Khalil. He is the UK Associate Sound Designer / Head of Sound at
WICKED London. Since being given the opportunity to Dep at WICKED in the Sound
Department, I have watched him work and learned a lot from him. His Sound knowledge just
blows my mind every time.
What would be your dream project to work on?
I would really like to work on the WICKED Tour one day.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of studying your subject?
I would say go for it! There are so many avenues you can take in sound. The subject is so broad
that you are constantly learning and taking in new things which keeps you on your toes.
What do you want your job title to be in 10 years’ time?
I hope to be Head of Sound / Associate Sound Designer on a major West End show.
