This vibrant season features a compelling mix of contemporary drama, musical theatre and classic comedy, staged across Mountview’s Backstage Theatre and The Mack Theatre.

Breathing Corpses

21 – 24 April | The Backstage Theatre

“Oh you’ve been – you’re all red, round your eyes. Well I can’t clean up now, can I? Least you didn’t sick up on yourself, quite tidy really.”

A body is found in a hotel room. Then another. And another. Acclaimed playwright Laura Wade weaves together stories of people who, while never quite connected, are irrevocably linked by their encounters with death.

Performed by Mountview’s BA Musical Theatre students, Breathing Corpses is a darkly comedic jigsaw puzzle that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Why don’t you come to the Steel Pier?”

Atlantic City, 1930s. On the famous Steel Pier, the music never stops and neither do the dancers, grinding through a gruelling marathon with their eyes on the prize. But for one woman, this contest means more than money – it is her chance to finally escape the life she has been trapped in for far too long. The only rule? Keep dancing.

Featuring music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb – the renowned duo behind Chicago and CabaretSteel Pier is a dazzling, Tony-nominated musical about romance, resilience, and hope, performed by Mountview’s BA Musical Theatre students.

Twelfth Night

7-9 May | The Backstage Theatre

“Foolery, sir, does walk about the orb like the sun; it shines everywhere.”

On the sun-kissed island of Illyria, a shipwrecked twin searches for her sibling, a duke woos a disinterested lady in mourning, fools sing, the strict go silly, and certainty crumbles into confusion – all in the name of love in all its forms.

Performed by Mountview’s BA Acting students, Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy Twelfth Night is witty, tender, and deliriously funny – a joyous celebration of love and the music that feeds it.

Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again

14-16 May | The Backstage Theatre

“I have cut my eyelashes off. I have covered myself in coal and mud. I have bandaged my body up and made myself a collection of straight edges.”

Alice Birch’s provocative and uncompromising play tears apart the language, structures, and systems that shape women’s lives – and dares to imagine something radically different.

Performed by Mountview’s BA Acting students, Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again is bold, funny, and relentlessly inventive theatre that refuses to play by the rules.
