Sabina came to the UK from Saint Lucia as part of the Windrush generation and settled in Peckham. Sabina came to the UK from Saint Lucia as part of the Windrush generation and settled in Peckham. In May 2025 she was appointed Deputy Mayor of Southwark. 

She has always been passionate about giving back to the community, and after attending Peckham Girls School, became a tenants’ rights campaigner, trade union representative and Labour Party campaigner. 

Sabina has been actively involved in community work since the 1990s, and in her capacity as chair of the Tenants’ Residents Association, she helped secure the largest budget in the country for the redevelopment of Peckham’s five estates.

She has been awarded two civic honours for her work in Southwark. Sabina became a Peckham ward councillor in 2022.
