Mountview Announces Postgraduate Season 2021

We are thrilled to announce four productions showcasing the talents of our Postgraduate Acting and Musical Theatre students this summer with a limited number of complimentary public tickets available for each performance.

Time after Time

Musical Theatre
28-31 July
A new musical revue with song and dance exploring social change for women through the decades, covering eras from the past 100 years performed by Mountview’s Postgraduate Musical Theatre students.

Featuring music from the 20’s, 40’s, 60’s, 80’s and 00’s, Time After Time explore the importance of looking back in order to look forward.

11-14 August
A new musical revue with song and dance through the decades, covering eras from the past 100 years performed by Mountview’s Postgraduate Musical Theatre students.

Featuring music from the 30’s, 50’s, 70’s, 90’s, 2010’s, In The Mood explore the importance of looking back in order to look forward.

A double bill of sensational stories of audacious women, ambition and London society, in contemporary re-workings created by the company.

The Roaring Girl by Thomas Dekker & Thomas Middleton

A rebellious London underworld, led by fearless and feisty ‘roaring girl’, Moll Cutpurse, collides with its upper classes in Dekker and Middleton’s bawdy city comedy. As gender, class and convention are subverted, can the underdog become the hero?

The Beau Defeated by Mary Pix

A biting satire on social aspiration, this riotous play follows two ambitious women in search of respectable husbands. Written by Mary Pix, as popular in her day as her male contemporaries, The Beau Defeated shows us a wild world full of colourful characters who will stop at nothing in the pursuit of fame and glory.

A Double bill of twisted tales of ambition, deception and class in contemporary re-workings created by the company.

A New Way to Pay Old Debts by Philip Massinger

The young and once wealthy Frank Wellborn has lost his fortune and blames his evil uncle Sir Giles Overreach. Class conflict, machinations, deceptions and hilarity ensue in this classic ‘Villain Play’.

The Alchemist by Ben Johnson 

When London is hit by an outbreak of the plague, the rich flee to the country leaving their townhouses in the hands of their servants. Trusted butler Jeremy soon recruits fellow miscreants Subtle and Doll Common to help him swindle the city’s remaining population. Things couldn’t be going better for the gleeful trio until they receive a very unwelcome visitor…
