Spring Season 2022 Announced

This Spring we are thrilled to announce four productions and a film project, showcasing the work and talents of our third year BA (Hons) Performance Acting and Musical Theatre students.

Company

29 Jan – 5 Feb
Musical Theatre

“Phone rings, door chimes – in comes company!”

It is Bobby’s birthday and his coupled-up friends have arranged a surprise party. As they wait for him to blow out the candles, questions are raised. Why isn’t Bobby married yet? Why doesn’t Bobby settle down? Why can’t he find the right woman? And what, if anything, is he missing out on?

Sondheim’s classic musical comedy is returned to its 1970’s origins in this new production, featuring the songs including Being Alive, You Could Drive A Person Crazy, Getting Married Today and The Ladies Who Lunch.

Carousel

5 – 12 Feb
Musical Theatre

“Walk on with hope in your heart, and you’ll never walk alone”

Carousel follows Julie Jordan and her romance with the fairground barker Billy Bigelow after their fateful meeting on the carousel. With events in their previously calm small town existence starting to spin out of control, Carousel pursues Julie and Billy through life, death, and beyond.

A bold, contemporary adaptation of the iconic ‘golden age’ musical, Carousel features songs including June Is Bustin’ Out All Over, If I Loved You and the incomparable You’ll Never Walk Alone.

rob steal swindle

8 – 10 March
Acting

Set at a very unusual recruitment company, rob steal swindle examines what happens when young people are pushed to accept low pay – and then pushed too far… When adult society has no place for you, what does it mean to be an adult in our society?

An absurdist black comedy specially commissioned by Mountview, rob steal swindle is wild, inventive and shocking.

The Man of Mode

15 – 17 March
Acting

A Restoration comedy with a twist, The Man of Mode is a ridiculous comedy of manners viewed through a contemporary lens. A messy, wild ride involving a host of rakish and roguish characters, and the anarchic entanglements between them.

This brand new production is created by the founders of EMERGE(ncy) PARTY, which was formed in 2020 with the aim of creating a world where young people shape the future through creativity.

Film Projects

Our 3rd year BA Acting students will also be working on two new short films, which will examine the lives of young adults living in London in 2022. Written by Stephanie Street and Esme Allman, and directed by Mina Anwar and Eke Chukwu, the films will receive a public screening later in the year.
