20 May 26

Mountview is pleased to present its Postgraduate Season 2026, showcasing the talents of our MA Performance –  Musical Theatre and Acting students, with the support of our Production Arts students.

This vibrant season features a compelling mix of contemporary drama, musical theatre and classic comedy, staged across Mountview’s Backstage Theatre and The Mack Theatre.

Godspell

13 – 17 June | The Mack Theatre

“You are the light of the world!
But a light under a bushel has lost something kind of crucial.
You’ve gotta stay bright to be the light of the world!”

A community searches for a new way of living. Godspell is a vivid musical retelling of one of the most renowned stories in history, re-imagined, relevant, bold and always playful. Featuring an electric score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden), this production is a celebration of the power of community, storytelling and music.

Godspell is brought to life by our MA Performance – Musical Theatre cohort.

Merrily We Roll Along

3 – 7 July | The Mack Theatre

“I swear, if I could go back to the beginning, if I could somehow be starting over with Charley, writing shows, trying to change the world, I’d give all this up like that.”

Frank has everything: money, fame, and a successful career in Hollywood. So why has he lost everyone who ever mattered to him?

Merrily We Roll Along tells its story in reverse – winding back the clock to reveal how a brilliant, promising composer slowly lost his loved ones, his principles, and himself – until we arrive at the very beginning: a rooftop, a satellite launch, and three young friends who believed they could take on the world.

Featuring one of Stephen Sondheim’s most celebrated scores, this is a musical about ambition, compromise and what we are willing to sacrifice in the name of success.

Merrily We Roll Along is performed by our MA Performance – Musical Theatre cohort.

Tipping The Velvet

8 – 11 July| The Backstage Theatre

“This is your coming-out suit. You needn’t say anything – in fact, don’t – the spectacle will do it all. I’m taking you to my club.”

In 1887, Nan Astley sits in the audience; she doesn’t know it yet, but the next act on the bill will change her life. Tipping The Velvet is a coming-of-age love story exploring desire, sex, class and identity in the queer subcultures hidden beneath the soot and grime of Victorian London.

Tipping the Velvet is performed by our MA Performance – Acting cohort.

55 Days

15 – 18 July | The Backstage Theatre

And when king’s head and king’s crown are gone, what will be in their place? You?”

December 1648. In a country exhausted by Civil War, the army occupies London and moves against parliament in a military coup. Howard Brenton’s play explores the next 55 dangerous days as the victors in the Civil War are tasked with negotiating the future and begin to think the unthinkable. How to forge a country without a king?

55 Days is performed by our MA Performance – Acting cohort.

Emilia

22 – 25 July | The Mack Theatre

“If you think I’m cruel to speak this truth then you will think me murderous if all my truth were known.”

Four hundred years ago Emilia Bassano wrote radical, feminist, subversive poetry; one of the first published collections written by a woman in England. Emilia wanted her voice to be heard. It wasn’t. But her story is still our story. In Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s electrifying and Olivier Award-winning play, Emilia and her sisters reach out across the centuries with passion, fury, laughter and song.

Emilia is performed by our MA Performance – Acting cohort.
