Yen

13 Jun

Winner of the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting in 2013. Scenes from Yen by Anna Jordan follows two brothers (Hench and Bobbie) and their relationship with society and each other. They live alone in Feltham, with their Mum (Maggie) occasionally visiting after being comatosed on the lawn outside the flat. Suddenly, Jennifer shows up and turns their world upside down.

Connor Goodwin (he/him) is a freelance theatre director, curating performance that speaks to working-class communities and challenges traditional notions of theatricality. Whilst currently studying on the Theatre Directing MA at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, his past work includes Toxic (Altrincham Garrick Playhouse), Cleansed (Manchester School of Theatre) and Olympus ’22 (Manchester School of Theatre). He’s worked with 53two, Burnley Youth Theatre and Oldham Coliseum on creative engagement projects, improving the cultural uptake of vulnerable adults and young people across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.

Suitable for 16+ years. Contains strong and offensive language throughout.

This amateur production of scenes from Yen is presented by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
